Medical Billing – Anatomic Pathology Medical Coder

Our Billing Department is growing, and we need motivated people like you to join our team as a Anatomic Pathology Medical Coder. We currently have one part time position (20 hours per week) available at our Portsmouth NH facility. Our business is deadline oriented, so candidates must work well with time constraints and pride themselves on a job well done.

After completing training in our Portsmouth office and proving the ability to work independently; employees will have the opportunity to telecommute.

Job Description
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Coding clinical and anatomical pathology cases using CPT4 and ICD-9
Code and enter data from hard copy or image copy
Maintains data standards, including adherence to HIPAA
Verifies recorded information to ensure accuracy and completeness of data
Identifies and corrects errors
Keeps record of work hours completed
Operates computers and office equipment
Performs additional functions as necessary

Requirements
Candidates should possess the following skills and/or achievements:
Candidate must be a Certified Coder (CPC or CCS) with extensive clinical training and experience in the area of clinical and anatomical pathology coding.
Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT4
Medical terminology and human anatomy
Ability & discipline to work independently
Ability to read and interpret documents such as computer hardware and software operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
Good knowledge of PC operations and software (Microsoft programs) are required
Must be skilled with Microsoft Excel
Excellent typing skills
Must be extremely detail oriented and organized
High-energy, focused individual with a desire to become an integral part in meeting and exceeding our team goals

Experience / Education
Prior medical coding experience is required; clinical & anatomical pathology coding experience required
National Coding Certification is required
High school level education or equivalent
