Colorado medical coders can expect an average salary of $58,867.52. 

As one of the biggest states in the Mountain West, Colorado also benefits from the highest average salaries for prospective medical coders. According to AAPC, the region has an average salary of $53,067. Within Colorado, the biggest cities for coders include Denver, Broomfield and Aurora.  

Certifications including CPCO, CPEDC and CRC are among the highest demand among Colorado medical coders. While coders without a bachelor’s degree averaged an annual salary of around $53,000, candidates with a bachelor’s degree saw their earnings jump to an average of $63,281. According to AAPC, coders generally need between 10 to 15 years of experience in order to obtain an average salary of around $65,000.
