Online Specialty Practicums

Specialty practicums prepare coders to take a sepcialty exam. Each practicum is approved for 6 AAPC CEUs for certified members upon completion. Each online practicum includes three (3) hours of streaming audio lectures that discuss trade-specific issues affecting coding for each respective specialty and three (3) hours of coding simulation with 75 coding scenarios linked to actual patient notes (matching the format of the actual exam).

• One-hour online audio lecture on procedure coding (CPT®)
• One-hour online audio lecture on diagnosis coding (ICD-9-CM)
• Downloadable E/M Audit Tool* to help with leveling and approved for use during exam
• 75-question online practical exercise coding case studies from medical documentation specific to each specialty (question format mimics those on actual exam)

Note: The audio lectures contained in the specialty practicums are intended to provide foundational coding training. Some audios may be replicated in various practicums. High-speed Internet access required.

* For Ambulatory Surgery Center Coder (CASCC™), the E/M coding lecture is replaced with an ASC specialty coding lecture.
