Melissa Kirshner

Melissa Kirshner, MPH, AAPC Fellow, CPC, CDEO, CPMA, CRC, CPC-I, CFPC


Melissa Kirshner, MPH, AAPC Fellow, CPC, CDEO, CPMA, CRC, CPC-I, CFPC, is executive director of a physician organization in Southeast Michigan. She has more than 30 years of healthcare experience in billing, coding, compliance, education, and software development. As a certified PMCC instructor, she teaches billing and coding classes to prepare students for the CPC® exam. Kirshner is a founding member of the Novi, Mich., local chapter, and serves as treasurer.

Julie Davis, CPC, COC, CRC, CPMA, CPCO, CDEO, Approved Instructor has 20+ years of experience in coding, auditing, compliance, documentation improvement, consulting, and teaching. She has worked with large multi-specialty groups, small billing companies, consulting companies and educational institutions. She is currently a member of the AAPC Documentation Advisory Committee, and teaching in the VILT courses for AAPC in addition to her role as a Risk Adjustment Manager for an IPA in Denver, Colorado. She has held officer positions in chapters in both California and Colorado. Her focus is to pay forward all the help and support that she has received in her coding career.

Elizabeth Herbert, RHIA, CPC, CPMA, CRC, CCC is an Epic application analyst for Baptist Healthcare System in KY & IN. She has more than 20 years in the healthcare field with billing, coding, education, pharmacy and clinical experience. She serves as member development officer for the AAPC New Albany Indiana local chapter and as a subject matter expert on the AAPC Documentation Advisory Committee.

Chelsea Kemp

Chelsea Kemp, RHIT, CCS, COC, CPC, CDEO, CPMA, CRC, CCC, CEDC, CGIC, AAPC Approved Instructor


Ms. Kemp is currently an Outpatient Coding Educator/Auditor at Yale New Haven Health, Subject Matter Expert at AAPC, and Adjunct Instructor at Central Arizona College. Chelsea has expertise in emergency department and gastroenterology coding, AZ state tape edits, NCCI, medical necessity and other billing/coding edits. She also is experienced in observation, OB Triage, outpatient ancillary and ambulatory surgery coding, as well as training and educating new coders in outpatient facility coding.

Kelly Shew

Kelly Shew, RHIA, CPC, CDEO, CPB, CRC, Approved Instructor made the switch to healthcare about 12 years ago. Since then, she’s spent some time billing, coding, and auditing, but her happiest places are in education and risk adjustment. She currently serves as the Education Officer for the Ann Arbor AAPC chapter and is also a member of the AAPC Documentation Advisory Committee.
