Question: Has the FDA approved the use of pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (90669), the polyvalent for intramuscular applications? Its not clear to me since the code was included in the latest issues from my Medicare carrier in both the Medicare Carriers Manual and the Medicare Intermediary Manual.

Answer: The FDA has not approved its use. So dont use the code 90669. Instead, use 90732 (pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine 23-valent,/I>), adult dosage for subcutaneous or intramuscular use. And, of course, use code G0009 for the administration of pneumococcal vaccine.
