Answer: Only the providers listed as “Eligible Professionals” in the Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2005 or the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 are eligible to participate in PQRS and thereby qualify for incentives. Refer to www.cms.gov/PQRS for the list of all Medicare professionals eligible to participate in PQRS. These include Medicare physicians such as doctor of medicine, doctor of osteopathy, doctor of chiropractic, practitioners such as nurse practitioners, and therapists such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
