An article in Dermatology Coding Alert Vol. 9 No. 12, “Specifying Biopsy Site Can Mean $27 Per Procedure,” provided the incorrect definition for CPT® code 67810. The definition is “Incisional biopsy of eyelid skin including lid margin.” The definition was revised in 2013 to clarify that the procedure must include the margin and be incisional. It is intended for larger biopsies where malignancy is highly suspected.
