When ICD-10 went into effect starting Oct. 1 of this year, your options for coding varicose veins in the legs got a lot more detailed – and a lot more complicated. The number of diagnosis codes you have to choose from to describe varicose veins in the legs went from only five under ICD-9 to more than 55 under ICD-10.
