Personal History Can Justify Reimbursement

Question: Many of our patients with history of skin cancer visit us annually for skin checks. Does Medicare allow for yearly skin checks?

Answer: Medicare does not reimburse for skin screening. When patients come to your practice for annual checkups, you should submit your claim with diagnosis code V10.82 (Personal history, neoplasm, malignant, skin melanoma) or V10.83 (Personal history, neoplasm, malignant skin).
