Question: For a biopsy of the skin of the scrotum, do we report CPT® code 11100 (skin lesion biopsy) or 54100 (penile biopsy)?

Answer: You would report CPT® code 11100 (Biopsy of skin, subcutaneous tissue and/or mucous membrane [including simple closure], unless otherwise listed; single lesion), not the site-specific code 54100 (Biopsy of penis [separate procedure]).
CPT® code 54100 only includes the penis, not the scrotum.
