Once you compare your ED practice’s benchmarking data over time, you may want to take the next step and compare your coding trends to those of other ED providers in the country. The following are the codes most often reported by ED physicians, according to a Medicare statistical analysis E/M Code Comparison report that was run on Nov. 13, 2020 and released by Part B MAC Palmetto GBA on December 8, 2020 (the most recent time period available at press time). The analysis reviewed claims for specialty code 93 (Emergency medicine) for the time period Jan. 1, 2020 through June 30, 2020, and revealed the following results:
