Answer: Code 31575 (laryngoscopy, flexible, fiberoptic; diagnostic) can be used in this case. The physician should include documentation in regards to the state of the mucosa (i.e., inflamed or normal), the appearance of the cords, the movement of the cords with phonation, and the presence or absence of a foreign body.
