Reader Question:

Fluid Infusions

Question: My question concerns 90780 (IV infusion). Can you bill for an IV bolus of fluid that does not contain a medication?

Anonymous GA subscriber

Answer: A bolus does not meet the definition of an infusion. IV hydration is considered to be included in the facility charges for the patient visit.
