What are Category III Codes?

To accommodate advancements in technology, CPT® has created Category III codes. These codes also include procedures and services that are not very frequently performed. When the technology becomes more popular or the procedure gains more usage, you might find these Category III codes getting changed to a Category I code.Although you might not see many Category III codes in use in your practice, you might still come across some instances where you will have to use these codes.
