Note These Other IT-Related Proposals

In addition to Promoting Interoperability (PI) Program changes, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid also lists a number of other changes intended to improve digital healthcare, according to the fiscal year (FY) 2022 Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) proposed rule.

  • Quality measures’ definitions;
  • Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) for current eCQMs;
  • Quality measures’ data standardization for collection via FHIR-based Application Programming Interfaces (APIs);
  • More technology input to improve quality care; and
  • Improved data aggregation and digital policy alignment with other CMS and federal agencies/programs.
