Industry Note:

Plan On Adjustments For Flu Vaccine Claims

Pay attention to your claims for flu vaccinations, or you may be losing Medicare reimbursement that's rightfully yours. For September claims, "influenza vaccinations are being priced using the 2010-2011 influenza season rates, instead of pricing with the 2011-2012 rates," HHH MAC NHIC reports. "Until the problem is solved, please hold your appeal requests," NHIC asks providers in an e-mail message. "As soon as the pricing files are updated you will be notified and you may request an adjustment of your claims." NHIC can't reprocess any incorrectly paid claims until the corrected pricing files are uploaded, the MAC explains. In the meantime, "please consider holding your claims until the new pricing files are in effect."
