Fuel Prices Stress Home Care Providers

Gas prices are up nearly a dollar per gallon compared to a year ago, and so are many home care providers' travel expenses -- and visiting staffers' complaints. U.S. gas prices currently average $3.816 per gallon, compared to $2.867 a year ago, according to gasbuddy.com. Prices have exceeded $4 per gallon in many metro areas. The most expensive gas in the continental U.S. is in California, which is averaging $4.205, according to the federal Energy Information Administration. More $4-plus states include Connecticut(averaging $4.099 per gallon), Illinois ($4.075), and the District of Columbia ($4.040), according to the EIA.
