Diabetes is a case mix diagnosis, allowing you to earn additional reimbursement. But you’ll also draw additional scrutiny when your claims include a diabetes diagnosis. The following table breaks down the points you’re eligible for, depending on which equation the episode falls under.
Note: It might appear that you could earn points for diabetes as a primary diagnosis and points for diabetes as an “other diagnosis,” but points are only allowed for one line per episode.
