Cap Overpayment Bill May Come Due This Month

Keep an eye out for a cap repayment notice. Some hospices may have already received a liability statement, but “typically” Medicare Administrative Contractors will begin reviewing and recalculating cap liabilities in September, says consulting firm The Health Group in Morgantown, West Virginia. Remember: “Hospices with cap liabilities will be provided 15 days to make the required payment or make requests for Extended Repayment Schedules,” The Health Group reminds in its electronic newsletter. “If you are expecting a cap liability and will be requesting an ERS, you should be preparing, or planning for the preparation of, financial statements and other information needed to support the ERS request.
