Hospice Notice of Election delays can be costly. If you’re not sure why you’re seeing NOEs returned, one HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor may be able to help. Among the eight items each NOE must contain is this one, Palmetto GBA points out in an article updated Jan. 31: “Acknowledgement the individual/representative has a full understanding of hospice, particularly the palliative vs curative nature of treatment.” Another necessary item is the “individual’s acknowledgement the designated attending physician is their choice,” the MAC adds.
