Hospice News:

Give More Notice Of ODFs, Providers Tell CMS

The content of Medicare’s Feb. 24 Home Health, Hospice & DME Open Door Forum wasn’t the only thing up for comment in the call. Providers also pointed out that the sessions are being announced on short — sometimes very short — notice.

For example, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services sent out its first email notice of the Feb. 24 call on Feb. 22. “How soon do you notify the public of the next Open Door Forum?” one caller asked CMS. “Seems like we just were notified this week that this was happening,” she said in the question-and-answer portion of the call.

The forum moderator apologized, saying “sometimes they are short notice, but we do our best to get them out timely to everybody.”

Another CMS official suggested accessing missed forum transcripts by using the forum email address, Home Health_ Hospice_DMEODF-L@cms.hhs.gov.

The transcripts are also available later on CMS’ website at www.cms.gov/Outreach-and-Education/Outreach/OpenDoorForums/PodcastAndTranscripts — scroll down to the “Home Health, Hospice & DME/Quality (HHH/DME), Open Door Forum (ODF)” section about three-fourths down the lengthy list of transcripts.
