Know What To Include In Your ADR Response

How much is too much, not enough or just right? One Medicare Administrative Contractor hopes you know so it will make its job easier.

When you receive an Additional Development Request (ADR), “please send all relevant documentation related to the service in question, and send only the relevant documentation,” MAC CGS says in a website post. “Submitting the entire patient chart may delay the review process, which will also delay the processing of your claim.”

“Many requests will specify exactly what documentation is being requested, or for repeat requests, what documentation was missing from the initial submission,” CGS says. “As the medical record is being reviewed, CGS is looking for evidence that supports the service submitted on the claim as well as the medical necessity for the services.”
