MAC Focuses Medical Review On Neuro Diagnoses

If you serve patients with Non-Cancer Diseases of the Nervous System in your hospice, you may be in for extra scrutiny. HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor Palmetto GBA has listed the item as its only hospice topic on its “Active Medical Review” list. This update may not be a surprise, as “hospice providers have been receiving requests for records since February” related to this topic, notes Katie Wehri with the National Association for Home Care & Hospice in the trade group’s listserv. Tip: Check your stats against Non-Cancer Length of Stay averages via your NCLOS report, Wehri suggests. Your personal NCLOS report, as well as general reports, are available via the Palmetto GBA website.
