Medicaid Fraud Control Units Recovered $1.6 Million From Hospices In 2020

It’s not just federal authorities that are cracking down on hospice fraud. Medicaid Fraud Control Units have 76 open investigations against hospices for fraud and three for patient abuse or neglect, the HHS Office of Inspector General says in a new report about MFCU activity in 2020. Cha-ching: MFCUs recorded two hospice convictions with about $347,000 in recoveries and two civil judgments/ settlements with $1.3 million in recoveries, according to the 34-page report at www.oig.hhs.gov/oei/reports/OEI-09-21-00120.pdf.
