States’ PEPPER Download Rates Range From 17% to 89%

Reminder: “The Program for Evaluating Payment Patterns Electronic Report (PEPPER) is a Microsoft Excel file summarizing provider-specific Medicare data statistics for target areas often associated with Medicare improper payments due to billing, … coding and/or admission necessity issues,” PEPPER contractor RELI Group says on the PEPPER website. The states with the highest hospice PEPPER download rates are Florida at 89 percent and Maryland at 87 percent, RELI Group says on its Hospice PEPPER Retrievals web page. The states with the lowest PEPPER download rates are Wyoming with 17 percent and California at 28 percent, RELI Group indicates. Check out your state’s retrieval rate at https://pepper.cbrpepper.org/Training-Resources/Hospices/PEPPER-Portal- Retrieval-Map. Rates are updated daily, RELI Group says.
