Use This New MAC Tool For Overlap Disputes

If patient overlap disputes with other hospices, hospitals or skilled nursing facilities are plaguing your hospice, a new tool from a HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor may help. CGS has issued instructions on how to resolve a patient overlap dispute, along with a form to submit to request the MAC’s assistance.
3 strikes: “CGS encourages hospice providers who submit claims to CGS to work with the Medicare provider that is involved in the overlap situation,” the MAC says. “However, if after three contacts, the hospice is not successful in resolving the overlap dispute, they may complete the [new] ‘Hospice Dispute Request For Assistance’ form to request assistance from CGS.”
