Access new guidance on completing Hospice Item Set questions accurately in the updated HIS Manual. “The HIS Manual has been updated with refined guidance for completing the HIS based on frequently asked questions from the Hospice Quality Help Desk,” the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services notes. “Additional guidance based on provider feedback from the Hospice Quality Help Desk has been added to the manual to clarify HIS coding instructions,” CMS says. While guidance may have expanded or changed, “note that no updates were made to HIS items or the HIS itself,” CMS emphasizes. “No HIS items have been added, deleted, or changed.” HIS Manual V2.01 and a change table are at www.cms.gov/Medicare/Quality-Initiatives-Patient-Assessment-Instruments/Hospice-Quality-Reporting/Hospice-Item-Set-HIS.html.
