In the reader question Routine Physicals for Chronically Ill on page 71 of the September 2000 Internal Medicine Coding Alert, it was incorrectly stated that a pelvic and breast exam (G0101) can be billed to Medicare every year. A pelvic and breast exam can be billed to Medicare every three years, unless the patient is at high risk for developing cervical or vaginal cancer.
