New Edits to CCI Will be Effective in July

According to a Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) program memorandum to carriers on April 1, 1999, a test file of new edits to Medicares Correct Coding Initiative (CCI), Version 5.2, became availabe to carriers on the HCFA Data Center (HDC) on April 1, with the final file expected to be available to carriers on June 1, 1999.
However, these edits have not been published in written form by the Department of Health and Human Resources and have not yet been made public.
Although the final edits will be available to carriers on June 1, 1999, they will not become effective until July 1. Internal Medicine Coding Alert is monitoring HCFA communications and press releases and will publish any final edits made available to the public as soon as they are released.
