Answer: G0180 (physician certification services for Medicare-covered services provided by a participating home-health agency [patient not present) has a transitioned nonfacility relative value unit (RVU) of 1.91. Multiply the conversion factor used by your practice and the RVU to determine the correct fee.

The date of service for G0180 begins the date the certification form is signed by the internist. Home-health certification and recertification was covered extensively in the March 2001 issue of Internal Medicine Coding Alert. Code G0180 should be reported when a patient has not received Medicare-covered home-health services for at least 60 days. The Medicare-covered home-health agency services must be prescribed to be eligible.
