Long-Term Care Survey Alert

NEWS FLASH

The Pressure Is On With Revised F314 Tag. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services had, at press time, just released revised survey guidance for pressure ulcers - and it's even tougher than you may have feared.

Even worse: The guidance went into effect Nov. 12, according to the transmittal at
www.cms.hhs.gov/manuals/pm_trans/R4SOM.pdf.

CMS also included new language at F309 to define various types of skin ulcers. "The sheer volume of the guidance (40 pages) speaks for itself," comments consultant Diane Brown in Boston. (For details, see the next Long-Term Care Survey Alert.)
