MINNESOTA LAW SPELLS TEMP RELIEF FOR NURSING HOMES

A new Minnesota law is providing some relief for nursing homes gouged by temp agencies charging exorbitant rates for staffing.

As of Jan. 2, temp agencies supplying staff to nursing homes are no longer allowed to charge more than 150 percent of the amount homes pay their own employees.

The temp agencies are also required to register with the state health department, perform criminal background checks on staff and ensure the staff is competent.
