Get Answers From CMS Reps About EOT & COT OMRAs

During the December 2011 SNF/LTC Open Door Forum, callers asked the following questions, which CMS reps answered.

Question: If a resident misses two days of rehabilitation therapy and goes home on day three, can the facility do an End of Therapy OMRA?

Answer: "If they miss two days of therapy and then they go home on day three, an EOT OMRA is actually not required," answered a CMS rep. But the facility may do one, she added.

Question: "We're saying that if day seven of the COT falls on [the ARD of] a scheduled assessment ... you do not have to combine it but you can combine it if it benefits the facility. That's true?"

Answer: "Yes, that's correct," said a CMS rep. "It's not required to combine it."
