The following House bills were introduced: H.R. 2151. A bill to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to expand coverage of bone mass measurements under part B of the Medicare program to all individuals at clinical risk for osteoporosis. Introduced May 19 by Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX), referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce and the Committee on Ways and Means. H.R. 2167. A bill to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to permit the disabled surviving spouse of an individual to elect to retain private health insurance as the primary payer of health insurance benefits under the Medicare program. Introduced May 20 by Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce and the Committee on Ways and Means. H.R. 2175. A bill to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to enhance beneficiary access in rural areas to quality health care services under the Medicare program. Introduced May 20 by Rep. Max Sandlin (D-TX), referred to the Committee on Ways and Means and the Committee on Energy and Commerce. H.R. 2182. A bill to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide for coverage under Part B for medically necessary dental procedures. Introduced May 21 by Rep. Michael Ferguson (R-NJ), referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce and the Committee on Ways and Means. H.R. 2199. A bill to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide for a voluntary program for limiting maximum out-of-pocket expenditures for beneficiaries under the Medicare program. Introduced May 21 by Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA), referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce and the Committee on Ways and Means.
