BILL WATCH

The following bill was introduced in the Senate: S 2234. A bill to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to ensure that prescription drug card sponsors pass along discounts to beneficiaries under the Medicare prescription drug discount card and transitional assistance program. Introduced March 25 by Sen. Tom Daschle (D-SD), referred to the Committee on Finance. The bill is unlikely to pass, but it sums up Democrats' chief complaint with the Medicare bill -- that it gives too much to pharmaceutical and other companies without giving enough to beneficiaries.
