• If you're used to CMS using its national coverage determination (NCD) process to slash your reimbursement, some good news is coming your way. In a Jan. 6 news release, CMS announced that it proposed an NCD to "expand coverage for initial diagnostic testing with positron emission tomograhy (PET)" for some cancer patients. PET scans may allow physicians to better plan the patient's initial treatment regime, CMS says. CMS is accepting public comments on the proposal through Feb. 5.
