CMS Updates MVP Resource Offerings

If you want to get a head start and acclimate yourself with the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Value Pathways (MVPs) before the program begins in 2023, you now can.

Reminder: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) revealed in the calendar year (CY) 2022 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS), which was published in the Federal Register last November, that it would not start its transition from traditional MIPS to MVPs until the 2023 performance year. However, the agency continues to offer guidance and update its Quality Payment Program (QPP) online resource library with materials, webinars, charts, and more.

On Feb. 17, CMS added these two offerings to the resources, according to a QPP alert,

  • MVP Candidate Submission Template: Provides instructions on how to submit an MVP candidate to CMS. Template available in both PDF and Word formats.
  • MVP Needs and Priorities List: Outlines the MVP needs and priorities to support CMS’s goals to continue MVP development and eventually have MVPs available to all clinicians who participate in MIPS.

The QPP resource library also uploaded the MVP kick-off webinar and other handy tools to help MIPS-eligible clinicians get a jumpstart on the transition.

See the latest updates to the MVP guidance at https://qpp.cms.gov/resources/resource-library.
