CMS Updates QPP Library With New PY 2021 Resources

Tip: Find out if your specialty is covered in the latest guides.

Whether you are feverishly collating your quality data for performance year (PY) 2021 or still trying to determine your status, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has updated the Quality Payment Program (QPP) resource library with a plethora of new guidance.

Reminder: CMS realizes that COVID-19 is still greatly impacting many providers’ daily workflow, but that some clinicians, group practices, and virtual groups may be able to participate, submit their measures, and receive their incentive payments. However, for PY 2021, the QPP will still have its Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances policy in place; moreover, providers can still request to have their Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) performance categories reweighted due to the public health emergency (PHE), agency guidance suggests.

The latest additions to the QPP guidance include:

  • Technical and user guides on MIPS eligibility and participation
  • Technical and user guides for Promoting Interoperability and Improvement Activities
  • A comparison guide on the difference between Promoting Interoperability Programs and the performance category of Promoting Interoperability
  • Specialty guides for PY 2021 measures and activities for 21 different specialties
  • Toolkits and performance category guides
