The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services advised Medicare fiscal intermediaries Sept. 5 that the outpatient code editor for non-outpatient prospective payment system hospitals has been updated with new, deleted and changed HCPCS and ICD-9-CM codes (A-03-077; http://cms.hhs.gov/manuals/pm_trans/A03077.pdf).  The changes affect only hospitals who aren't paid under the OPPS. In this week's second program memo, CMS reissues a modification of its policies on erythropoietin (AB-03-138; http://cms.hhs.gov/manuals/pm_trans/AB03138.pdf).
