64613 Descriptor Undergoes Minor Revisions

In an effort to clarify appropriate application of chemodenervation procedure 64613, CPT 2006 will contain some minor text changes to the code's descriptor (deleted items are in italics, new text is bolded):

 - 64613--Chemodenervation of muscle(s); cervical spinal neck muscle(s) (e.g., for spasmodic torticollis, spasmodic dysphonia).

-The changes [to the 64613 descriptor] are an improvement,- says Neil Busis, MD, chief of the division of neurology and director of the neurodiagnostic laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center at Shadyside, and clinical associate professor in the department of neurology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. -They more accurately describe the procedure and some of its indications,- but are simply for clarification and do not reflect any differences in how you should apply the code.
