NCCI 9.1 Bundles Minor E/M Into 99265, but Nothing More

Despite more than 4,700 changes this quarter to the National Correct Coding Initiative (2,835 added edits and 1,908 deleted edits), only a single, minor edit will affect neurology practices. Level-one outpatient E/M visit 99211 is now included in 92265 (Needle oculoelectromyography, one or more extraocular muscles, one or both eyes, with interpretation and report). The edit includes the superscript modifier indicator "0," which disallows any unbundling of 92265/99211, regardless of circumstances. CMS and National Technical Information Services released version 9.1 of the National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) for the period April 1 to June 30, 2003.
