Question: One of our surgeons performed an infraorbital nerve block. What is the correct CPT code for this?

Answer: The infraorbital nerve is one of the many branches of the trigeminal nerve (fifth cranial nerve). The three major divisions of the trigeminal are ophthalmic (V1), maxillary (V2), and mandibular (V3). The infraorbital is one of the three main branches of the maxillary division. Therefore, you should report 64400 (Injection, anesthetic agent; trigeminal nerve, any division or branch) for this service.
