Look to the results of the intensification. True or False: The increased severity of a disease can be considered a change in medical or treatment regimen when answering item M0200 (Medical or treatment regimen change within past 14 days). Answer: False. The disease exacerbation itself is not considered a change in medical or treatment regimen, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services instructs in its July 27 answers to this question from the OASIS Certificate and Competency Board. However, changes in medication, service or treatment that might result from the exacerbation or from a new diagnosis "would warrant a 'Yes' response in M0200," CMS adds.
