2 Isodose Plans In 1 Day

Question: We want to charge for two complex isodose plans (77315) for two separate areas on the same patient on the same day. How can we do this?

Louisiana Subscriber Answer: You should report only one teletherapy isodose plan (77315, Teletherapy, isodose plan [whether hand or computer calculated]; complex [mantle or inverted Y, tangential ports, the use of wedges, compensators, complex blocking, rotational beam, or special beam considerations]) a day even if you have two separate areas.

The code definition suggests that you would expect two separate treatment areas at the intermediate level or three separate treatment areas at the complex level.

If, however, significant changes occur in beam energy, direction or target volume requiring additional isodose plans during the course of treatment, you might report these with sufficient, signed documentation. But generally, the physician would perform the plans on a later date
