News Brief:

CMS Issues 2003 IOL Implant Reasonable-Charge Instructions

Payments under local carrier jurisdiction for intraocular lenses implanted in a physician's office are subject to change in 2003, thanks to CMS' reasonable-charge instructions issued Oct. 11.

Here are the ophthalmology-related codes subject to the inflation-indexed charge of 1.1 percent:

V2630 Anterior chamber intraocular lens
V2631 Iris supported intraocular lens
V2632 Posterior chamber intraocular lens. Expect your local carriers to publish this information in their next scheduled bulletins and to post it on their Web sites as supplier notification of the payment adjustments.
