Clarification:
Good News-Expect $73 for Extended Visual Fields

An article in the July 2005 Optometry Coding & Billing Alert, "Conquer the Pre-Blepharoplasty Visual Field Coding Conundrum," stated incorrectly the reimbursement for 92083 (Visual field examination, unilateral or bilateral, with interpretation and report; extended examination ...).
The article stated, "The Physician Fee Schedule values 92083 at $50.03 (unadjusted for geographic region)."
The correct reimbursement, calculated by multiplying the total RVUs (1.95) found in the Physician Fee Schedule by the 37.8975 conversion factor, is $73.90. However, this figure is also unadjusted for geographic region; your local carriers may reimburse more or less for 92083.
