Optometry Coding & Billing Alert

NCCI 11.2 Update:

Relax: No News Is Good News For Optometrists

Heads-up if you are reporting these G codes

The latest batch of coding edits takes effect on July 1 - but optometry coders can relax, since none of the procedures ODs typically perform are affected.

The same is not true for most other specialties, however, as drug delivery codes are bundled into more than 4,000 surgical procedures.

HCPCS codes G0351 (Therapeutic or diagnostic injection [specify substance or drug]; subcutaneous or intramuscular), G0353 (Intravenous push, single or initial substance/drug) or G0354 (Each additional sequential intravenous push [list separately in addition to code for primary procedure]) are now declared an intrinsic part of more than 250 eye surgery and ophthalmological services codes, according to the latest set of bundles from the National Correct Coding Initiative.
