Question: Is the discharge statement dictated by an orthopedic surgeon for a Medicare patient included in the global period?

Answer: Even if another doctor from the same practice completes the discharge, the global package applies for the same diagnosis, problem and condition as the surgery. The global package applies even if the surgeon transferred the postoperative care to another physician.
