Reader Question:

Using Endoscope Doesn't Change Septoplasty Code

Question: I am still new to the coding world and need to code for an endoscopic septoplasty. Would this be different than the 30520?

Answer: Using an endoscope does not change the coding. Your physician still performed septoplasty, so the correct code is 30520 (Septoplasty or submucous resection, with or without cartilage scoring, contouring or replacement with graft).

Septoplasty is most often performed in the case of a deviated septum which can be either C–shaped, S–shaped, or a cartilaginous deviation.
