92550 Bundles Tympanometry and Acoustic Reflex

Question: I reported 92567 and 92568-26 and received a denial on both codes. What did I do wrong?Oregon SubscriberAnswer: First, you should no longer report 92567 (Tympanometry [impedance testing]) and 92568 (Acoustic reflex testing, threshold) together. There is now a bundled code for these services: CPT 92550 (Tympanometry and reflex threshold measurements). Also, there are not separate technical (TC) and professional (26) component to these codes. Also, remember that for 92550 or the component codes when reported alone, E/M services are not reported separately. These services include testing of both ears. Use modifier 52 (Reduced services) if a test is applied to one ear instead of two ears.
